The life of a stripper isn’t easy or as glamorous as you may perceive it to be. The female strippers who you see at night clubs or strip clubs are just doing a job like anyone else, but that’s not the way society looks at it. The entertainment industry is distinct and what appears as fun may not be as thrilling when you look at it from the stripper’s perspective. Most of them could be out there to either earn a meal for themselves and families or depend on this job to fund their education. That most insensitive thing would be to perhaps judge a stripper and attach stigmas with their profession. So here’s what their real lives look like.

  • Challenges on the job

Even with the weirdest crowd around, strippers need to portray that they are enjoying every move they make on the dance floor. Not every stripper out there formally trained but most of them could be there as they love grooving. Many clubs only hire strippers proficient in pole dancing.

The taboo of public display of one’s body could often tell on a stripper’s relationships. Not all exotic dancers reveal to their families their work identities. The insecurity emerges from the way strippers are perceived by the larger societies where they live or work.

Clubs usually operate in the night and the girls need to report to work and sometimes stay up till the wee hours performing in front of an audience. It’s not only the odd work hours that’s demanding but there are endless health hazards associated with their job. Not all girls who dance are smokers but with pubs allowing guests to puff on their cigarettes inside the club, everyone’s vulnerable and drawn into passive smoking. Some strip clubs offer flexibility where the female strippers are required to report on specific days and particular time slots.

  • More than just a dancer

Female strippers performing at strip club events are many times expected to do more than just entertain guests with their dance moves. Well, beyond stripping, a lot of male guests expect dancers to get intimate with them in rooms. Even the most sophisticated clubs hosting erotic dance might have facilities to fulfill guest demands. However, not every dancer is comfortable going to such intimate levels and this could often be threatening to their self –respect and honor.

Clubs do have their policies and to protect their women employees, a lot of pubs and strip clubs throw out guests who try to misbehave with the dancers. Some guests indulge in violence after getting drunk and such behavior is not tolerated by leading clubs, although it’s not always as easy for the female strippers. Even at several gentlemen’s club Miami, despite having the best standards of work theoretically, strippers may not be able to approach their bosses as and when they want for help.

The irony is that a lot of strip club is hit by the drug culture. Taking guests into rooms for drugs is a regular practice at many clubs and it’s not only detrimental for the strippers to indulge in drugs every day but also equally harmful for the visitors. Majority of girls working at the clubs as strippers are young and are vulnerable to becoming drug addicts owing to repeated exposure. For strippers who indulge in physical intimacy with the guests, it could be threatening to their physical as well as mental health but the question is, how many clubs offer health insurance? Maybe none and it’s likely that girls often and up with dangerous STIs transmitted at the workplace. Not all clubs even bother to raise awareness of using adequate protection to prevent diseases if the girls get physically involved with guests at the club imposing high-risk to the health of female strippers and is certainly a matter of serious concern.

It’s not that all the dancers on the floor are always given due respect. Rejection owing to physical appearance and race is not unknown. Some guests pass ugly comments on girls dancing. This does impact the strippers’ self –confidence raising concern on their mental health as well. Like no medical benefits, most strippers don’t know whom to approach for counseling in need. The worst thing is that even if a female enjoys her profession or hobby of dancing at a striptease club, it’s not easy to talk about it. The fear of rejection and societal stigma simply makes it difficult to accept and own their decision.
